Kelda Joins Grassroots Effort to Recall Walker
MADISON – The effort to Recall Governor Walker officially kicked off with an electronic filing at 12:01 this morning. Statewide, 540,208 valid signatures will need to be collected by Jan. 14th to trigger a recall election against the Governor
“Today marks a historic chapter in Wisconsin politics,” said Rep. Roys. “I am proud to join citizens across our state as we work to restore accountability and fairness to our government. Governor Walker has abused his power, divided our state, and sided with corporate special interests over Wisconsin’s working families time and time again. Now, I stand with thousands of fellow citizens, part of a broad grassroots movement, to move Wisconsin forward again.”
“Today, I visited Gompers Elementary School, in Madison, to help hand out dictionaries to students. Gompers is just one of the thousands of public schools that have suffered devastating cuts under Walker’s budget. I saw skilled, compassionate teachers working hard to educate our students, even as class sizes grow and their modest salaries shrink further. It was a poignant reminder why this recall effort is so important. If we want to preserve a bright future for our children, then we must immediately work to undo the damage Governor Walker has done to our state.”
“I will be gathering signatures in my Northside Madison neighborhood, and throughout the 2nd Congressional District, partnering with grassroots groups and individuals working on the recall. I will have recall signature sheets at every public event I attend, so if you see me please stop and sign! Working together, I know we can restore the values of this state that I love and believe in.”
