Kelda for Congress Announces Party Chair Endorsements

January 5, 2012

MADISON, WI – Kelda for Congress is proud to announce the support of several Democratic Party County Chairs, in their individual capacities.  Joining her campaign as individual endorsers are Green County Chair Carol Mixdorf, Lafayette County Chair Mike Gallagher, Rock County Chair David Vaughan, Sauk County Chair Judy Spring, Iowa County Co-Chair Reisha Wyman, and Milwaukee County Chair Sachin Chheda.

With these endorsements, Kelda’s campaign for Congress has earned the support of party leaders in 5 of the 6 counties that make up the 2nd Congressional District.  Although County Party organizations do not endorse in Democratic primaries, individual leaders are free to support candidates personally, as these leaders have chosen to do.  They are standing up for Kelda Helen Roys’ record of bold progressive advocacy and her history of helping build grassroots strength across the 2nd District.

“Kelda is one of our generation’s brightest stars. She’s an effective and strong spokesperson for children and families, and we need her voice in the US Congress. If you care about a woman’s right to choose, support Kelda. If you care about the middle-class, support Kelda. If you care about a strong education system, support Kelda. If you want Democrats who win for progressive issues, support Kelda.”

Sachin Chheda, Chair, Milwaukee Democratic Party

“I support Kelda because I’ve seen the spirit and wisdom she has to serve as a bold advocate for the people of the 2nd district. We need to send a fighter to Washington, who will refuse to play the same old games of surrender, and who will refuse to compromise their values. She has the tenacity to win now, when we simply cannot afford to lose.

Judy Spring, Chair, Sauk County Democratic Party

“I support Kelda because I believe in her commitment to lead by example, and refuse any corporate influence in her campaign.  Our political system currently serves the powerful at the expense of the rest of us, and change will only come when people refuse to play by the same old rules.  Kelda will be persistent, and won’t back down.”

Mike Gallagher, Chair, Lafayette County Democratic Party

“I am honored to have the support of so many great Democratic Party leaders, and look forward to continuing our work together to elect progressive Democratic candidates and send them to Madison, and in my case, to Washington” said Rep. Roys.

Rep. Roys’ campaign has earned the support of over 300 elected officials, grassroots activists, and community leaders.  This announcement marks another in a series of releases over the coming weeks and months, as voters across the 2nd District begin to engage in this race.
